What our labels actually mean

Five phrases show up everywhere on our packaging and our pages: no preservatives, no sugar added, cold pressed daily, 100% fresh sugarcane juice, keep refrigerated. We get asked what they actually mean often enough that it’s worth answering properly, not just with a badge on the pouch. Here’s what each one means, without the marketing gloss.

No preservatives

This means exactly what it says. We don’t add any preservative, chemical or otherwise, to extend shelf life. A lot of bottled drinks rely on something to keep them stable for months at room temperature. Tetebu doesn’t use that approach. Nothing in the pouch is there to slow down the clock. What keeps it good is refrigeration, from the moment it’s pressed to the moment you open it.

No sugar added

No sugar of any kind goes into Tetebu. Not sucrose, not syrup, not any sweetener. This is worth being precise about, because “no sugar added” is not the same claim as “sugar-free.” Sugarcane is naturally sweet on its own, so there’s simply nothing left to add. Whatever sweetness you taste is the plant’s, not ours.

Cold pressed daily

Cold-pressing means the juice is extracted using pressure instead of heat. Heat is faster and cheaper, which is why most large-scale juice production uses it, but it changes the juice along the way. We press daily rather than pressing a large batch in advance and holding stock, which is why “daily” is part of the claim and not just a word placed next to “fresh” for effect.

100% fresh sugarcane juice

No dilution, no water added, no other juice blended in. A lot of what’s sold as “juice” is stretched with water or mixed with cheaper juices to bring the cost down. What’s in a Tetebu pouch is sugarcane juice and nothing else, at whatever concentration the cane itself produced.

Keep refrigerated

Because there are no preservatives, this instruction is doing real work, not just covering us legally. Tetebu stays good for 6 months refrigerated and unopened. Once it’s open, drink it promptly rather than letting it sit.

Why we’re this specific about it

Vague labels are easy to write. “Natural.” “Premium.” “Fresh.” Words like that cost nothing and mean whatever the reader wants them to mean. Specific ones take longer to explain, but they’re the only kind actually worth trusting, because they can be checked. Every claim above traces back to the same eight-step process, from the farm to the pouch, that we walk through on our About Us page. If something here still doesn’t answer your question, our FAQ page covers more ground, or you can reach us directly.
